The IMB Innovation Team ("we," "us," or "our") operates Sermon Tools at https://sermon.donbarger.com (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.
1. Information We Collect
Account information. When you sign in with Google, we receive and store your name, email address, profile picture, and Google account identifier. We use this to create and identify your account.
Content you create. We store the research, sermon drafts, and saved sermons you create in the Service so you can return to them.
Usage data. To operate and administer the Service, we log usage of AI features tied to your account — for example, which feature was used, the AI model used, token counts, and an estimated cost. We use this for administration, support, and cost management.
Inputs you provide. Text you enter (passages, notes, drafts, sermons you submit for evaluation) is transmitted to third-party AI providers for processing. Please do not submit sensitive personal information through the Service.
2. Cookies
We use a single, signed session cookie to keep you logged in. We do not use advertising cookies, cross-site tracking, or third-party analytics, and we do not sell any data.
3. How We Use Information
- To provide the Service, authenticate you, and save your work;
- To generate AI research, drafts, and evaluations you request;
- To administer, support, secure, and improve the Service (including usage and cost monitoring);
- To enforce our Terms of Use.
We do not use your information for advertising or profiling.
4. Third-Party Services
The Service relies on the following third parties, each governed by their own privacy policies:
- Google — sign-in / authentication (Google Privacy Policy);
- OpenRouter and the AI model providers it routes to — to generate AI output from your inputs;
- Bible-text and study providers — the ESV API, API.Bible, the Biblia API, the NLT API, and the Study Bible reference service — to retrieve Scripture text and scholarly reference material for the passages you choose.
5. Data Retention
Your account and the content you save are retained until you delete them or request deletion. Designated administrators may view account usage data and saved content for the purpose of operating and supporting the Service.
6. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.
7. Your Rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of the account information and saved content associated with your account by contacting us (see Section 10). Signing out ends your session; you may also stop using the Service at any time.
8. Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information (including signed session cookies and restricted administrative access). However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above reflects when changes were last made. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
10. Contact Us
If you have questions or concerns about this Privacy Policy, you may contact the IMB Innovation Team through the IMB website.
